We never knew Mark as well as Jane and Sara but I agree with all the words of the funeral officiant- he was ALWAYS smiling when I saw him! Always very welcoming and chatty ( with a fabulous sense of humour) and even during his illness he continued to smile…. (even when things were desperately frustrating for him). I have a fond memory of sitting in Jane’s sitting room and he, Jane and I were in absolute hysterics over something to do with some kids at the high school and how ‘different things are nowadays’!!! One of my fondest memories of Mark of which there are many, is when we were playing the National Cup Final against Liverpool in Nottingham. A supporter came on the pitch so Mark put the ball past one side of him and ran the other side of him and other supporters off the pitch! No complaints just got on with it with one of his cheeky grins. What a fantastic human being.
